FAQ

1 - My Engineered Wood Floor has been down for only about 5 years and looks just terrible – it is scratched, scuffed, dull and beat-up looking! This floor has a very thin top layer, and an ‘Aluminum Oxide’ finish from the factory. It was bought at a big box store, and is out of warranty. Is there any way the floor can be refinished without having to Sand it at all?

You are asking a fairly common question – since so many ‘Aluminum Oxide’ finish floors were sold by big flooring outlet stores over the past 2 decades – and quickly showed unsightly scuffs, scratches, stains and wear-marks! The answer is YES – it IS possible to refinish your floor without having to Sand it at all! We can do this for you by utilizing a new product applied to your existing floor — in a special 3-step process: ` CLEANING ? SEALANT ? FINAL FINISH Again, this requires NO SANDING – And it looks like NEW– all without the costs or other hassles of a installing a new floor!

2 - We have a bamboo wood floor – placed in about 1,600 feet of our Long Beach Area home. We have two large dogs – they’ve marked up the floor with their nails – as well as our young grandchildren scuffing and scratching the floor as they play with their toys. Is there a product we can use to keep these unsightly scratches to a minimum?

YES – I recommend WearMax — a new Ceramic Refinishing product from U.S. based Kagill Inc. as your best choice for enjoying many years of a wear-resistant surface which keeps it original luster! Furthermore, this product as superior slip resistance, reducing the risk of falls. This product carries a Life-Time Wear Warranty – the best warranty in the business – offered to you by BOTH Sandman Flooring Company and the Manufacturer of WearMax! This amazing product can be applied with a special Sealer over an existing Finish – WITHOUT having to sand off the existing PolyUrethane in most cases. This is a new ‘State-of-the Art’ product –offered exclusively to you by the Sandman.

3 - Does the Sandman recommend Hardwood Floors for my kitchen and dining Areas? We are building a new home in Malibu. I am concerned about possible water damage –we have small children and spills are common!

You are correct to be concerned – water is Wood Floorings biggest enemy! If water moisture seeps into the wood, it will swell and may buckle. Fortunately, the better Finishing Products will keep the water on the surface so it can be dried up. We have sold and installed many Hardwood Floors – and in areas such as you describe – with success. The key is ensuring that you properly maintain your professionally Refinished floor.
